Yes some of us here at the school are professional musicians. I can assure you that when we do band recitals and events like that we address lyrical content of songs the best that we can. Pop and rock music so often do have more adult content in the songs and sometimes we have to be careful about walking that line. We are definitely a school that focuses on contemporary music and not a more classical approach. Thank you for your feedback regarding our school. Reply from The Music Factory School of Music Sep 2, 2016 Most will not be professional musicians but they can still get great enjoyment and benefits from pursuing it. I think it's like that for lots of music students. However, I still feel like a get great benefits from pushing myself to do those sports. I'm just not a natural athlete like friends of mine are. There are certain sports that I enjoy doing, cycling and brazilian jiu jitsu, but I can work t them hard for long periods of time and I will always be sub par at them. Some people are " naturals" to some extent and others can struggle their entire ives just t be even somewhat proficient. There is some truth to the concept that students pick up these skills at a different pace than others. As much as we try, we can't always guarantee that everyone will love playing and take it upon themselves to practice at home when they are away from their lessons. I know we had many conversations about you getting involved in trying to set up a practice schedule at home etc.

I wanted to thank you for your time with us at The Music Factory. But isn’t it great that we are here when people need us? If your student needs our help, please give us a call at 236-3949.Reply from The Music Factory School of Music Apr 20, 2016 After a few weeks or months, a student like this probably won’t need regular visits anymore. We take pride in working ourselves out of the lives of our students. But when he was by himself with a tutor, he could stop and ask if he was confused, or better yet, our tutors are experienced enough to know the signs to look for to see if a student is “getting it.” It’s hard to hide in a room with one other person! We watch and we adjust to the student’s pace. He may have not been able to follow one person’s explanation.

He may not have had enough time in class to think about what the teacher said. These starts and stops really get in the way of progress, and many students just give up on understanding the material. By the time the topic comes up, they have forgotten what they wanted to ask. Lots of teenagers decide to skip the topic, make a guess, or plan to ask in the next class but then forget. Students have access to their teachers at school, but once they get home and get started on an assignment, they may find they need to ask another question. He got stuck and couldn’t figure things out on his own. He might have not been concentrating as well on his own.

We work hard for a solid hour, and there are no cell phones, video games or TV to compete for attention. They think they understand “well enough” but as soon as they are faced with a tougher question on a test, they freeze. Many students underestimate how long they should spend on practicing and studying their lessons. He was not spending enough time on his work. That must be some kind of magic that tutors do! Here are a few possible explanations for this kind of success: That is an impressive turn-around from failing a few short weeks ago. After just five weeks, he had a big math test and he got a 100. At first he was not too happy about having to come see us, but after a short time he started to agree that it was time well spent. His mother insisted that he start coming to The Study Hall to work on his math every week with a tutor. Here is a story that demonstrates what we love about tutoring.Ī young man failed his high school midterm. Those of us who work as tutors really love helping students succeed.
